Fifth Day Workshop on Statistical Machine Learning Methods for Genomic Prediction Using R Program

The last day of the Workshop on Statistical Machine Learning Methods for Genomic Prediction Using R Program took place on Monday, June 23, 2025, at 10:00–13:00 WIB in the FMIPA UNY Ballroom. In this session, Professor Osval Antonio Monteninos López, Ph.D. from Universidad de Colima, Mexico presented material on one of the methods in machine learning, namely Random Forest, covering the definition, basic concepts, how it works (algorithm), hyperparameter tuning, and variable importance measures (VIM) in Random Forest. In addition to presenting the material, he also provided an example of the application of the Random Forest method to solve problems using the help of RStudio software. In closing, several student representatives expressed their appreciation for the very useful material during the eight days of the visiting professor and workshop program, then continued with a group photo.
