On Tuesday, March 9, 2021, the Statistics Study Program FMIPA UNY held a Practitioner Lecture program by inviting Ir. Suparna, M.Sc. from the Yogyakarta Special Province Central Statistics Agency (BPS DIY). He is an intermediate expert statistician from BPS DIY Province.

In this program, Ir. Suparna, M.Sc. gave Spatial Statistics lectures to Statistics/Mathematics Study Program students. This activity was held three times on the 9th, 16th, and 23rd of March 2021 online. At this first meeting, he delivered introductory material on spatial statistics, followed by material on spatial correlation patterns and spatial linear regression at the second and third meetings. He conveyed the need for spatial statistics including being able to provide quantitative explanations of map visualizations and being able to help in assessing patterns, relationships, and trends in a spatial distribution. With this program, it is hoped that Statistics/Mathematics Study Program students will have lecture experience from domestic practitioners.
