The Mathematics Competition and Seminar (LSM) is an annual activity held by the Mathematics Education Student Association (HIMATIKA) FMIPA, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta. This year is the implementation of the 31st LSM. As the name implies, LSM are a series of activities consisting of a Mathematics Competition and a Mathematics National Seminar. Mathematics competitions are held for junior high school, high school and equivalent levels as well as student competitions at the national level. The mathematics seminar itself is held for active S1/S2/S3 students, teachers, lecturers, and other parties concerned with mathematics, mathematics education, and statistics throughout Indonesia. This year's seminar carries the main theme, "Optimizing the Role of Mathematics in Advancing Indonesian Education in the Post-pandemic Period" with the hope that independent learning can be more effective by optimizing the role of mathematics, mathematics education, and statistics to advance Indonesian education.

On March 11st, 2023, Students of Statistics Study Program UNY Class of 2021 presented their research articles at the Mathematics National Seminar with the theme "Optimizing the Role of Mathematics in Advancing Indonesian Education in the Post-pandemic Period" organized by the Mathematics Education Department Student Association (Himatika) UNY. The Statistics Study Program students are Asma' Khoirunnisa' and Firdaus Amruzain Satiranandi Wibowo. They presented a research article entitled "Comparative Analysis of Agglomerative Hierarchical Clustering Based on Education Indicators in West Java Province (Comparative Study of Determining Regency/City Groups Using the Single Linkage, Complete Linkage, Average Linkage, and Ward Methods) with the guidance of a lecturer at the Statistics Study Program UNY, Mrs. Kismiantini , Ph.D.
