UNY FMIPA STUDENTS STUDY AT TWO UNIVERSITIES IN THAILAND
A total of 8 students from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) UNY participated in the credit transfer program in Thailand. Those studying at Prince of Songkla University are 2 students from the Mathematics Education study program. Meanwhile, 6 other students are at Yala Rajabhat University. There are 3 people from the Biology study program, 2 people from the Biology Education study program, and 1 person from the Physics Education study program.
At the recent release of credit transfer students, the Dean of FMIPA, Dr. Hartono explained that the credit transfer process begins with a fairly long process. In the past, it started with mutual visits and was followed up with a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The contents of the MoU include, among other things, the credit transfer program. "The results of this credit transfer will be submitted to Dikti so that the grades obtained while studying in Thailand are recognized by Dikti, so that students do not lose out", he stressed. He explained that this was an opportunity for students to see what is available in Thailand, where the culture is similar to Malay, even the food is almost the same.
This credit transfer program collaboration started in 2015 when Yala Rajabhat sent 7 students to study at FMIPA UNY. Because they are satisfied, they have now sent 11 people to study here. Meanwhile, FMIPA only sent its students to credit transfer courses there in 2016. “Apart from studying, please learn about Thai culture which is a little different. "Specific things will certainly be good memories", added the Dean.
Deputy Dean I, Dr. Suyanta explained that after the collaboration for sit-in students was successful, we would increase it in the form of a credit transfer course program. Please take suitable courses. "We are pioneering this credit transfer program for 2 years, and a joint commitment must be built between UNY and universities in Thailand, for example by inviting each other to seminars", he explained. In college, continued Suyanta, students in Thailand wear uniforms. So please, you can wear your alma mater uniform. As for the language in lectures, they use Thai and English. So, apart from English, please learn a little Thai so that your learning becomes smoother. (witono)
