The welcoming of new students for the 2013 Mathematics Education Department and the opening of Study Orientation and Campus Introduction at the Faculty level was held on Wednesday, 21 August 2013 at 07.00 WIB on the FMIPA UNY grounds. After the opening ceremony, it was continued with briefing for students by Dr. Sugiman, M.Si., Drs. Sahid, M.Sc, and Dr. Maman Agus Abadi.The contents of the briefing include the Department's Organizational Structure, Vision and Mission of the Mathematics and Mathematics Education Study Program, Academic Regulations, Student Ethics, Academic Services, Student Services, and character education (about scientific attitudes). The briefing was held in Room D.07.301 on Floor III of Building 07 FMIPA UNY where new students sat on the floor (see Figure).

New students in the Department of Mathematics Education are 113 students in the Mathematics Education Study Program and 83 students in the Mathematics Study Program. Among these students, there are students of a special program, namely the Bidik Misi program, totaling 16 Bidik Misi students in the Mathematics Education Study Program and 19 Bidik Misi students in the Mathematics Study Program. To provide maximum service, 12 lecturers have been prepared to become Academic Advisors for new students and the Academic Advisors for Bikdik Misi students are the heads of their respective study programs. In 2013, 5 new classes were opened, consisting of 3 Mathematics Study Program classes and 2 Mathematics Study Program classes.
