Practitioner Lecture for Life Insurance Course
The Statistics Study Program UNY held a Practitioner Lecture program by presenting Mrs. Istiqomah, S.Sc., M.Sc., FSAI. She is Actuarial Pricing Manager - PT Prudential Life Assurance. The Life Insurance Practitioner Lecture for Statistics Study Program students will take place online on 1 and 29 May 2021. At the first meeting, the basic concepts in the process of determining the premium price (pricing) of a Term Life Insurance product along with examples were discussed in detail. While the product process for Unit Link Life Insurance and Sharia Insurance was reviewed at the second meeting.
An actuary needs to pay attention to the interests of many parties in setting the price of an insurance product. The policies and assumptions used in setting the price of a life insurance product must take into account the interests of the government as a regulator, consumers as product users, and also product competitors. The pricing process also involves assumptions such as estimates of the mortality rate, investment rate, and operational costs. It is clear that in the process of determining the price of a life insurance product, an actuary must also work closely with other parts of the company, including the marketing department which is responsible for marketing insurance products, the experience study department which is responsible for analyzing mortality and morbidity rates, and the investment department that is responsible for managing and developing customer funds. The process of determining the price of a life insurance product requires caution because inaccuracy in pricing can affect the company's financial performance position. The Practitioner Lecture Program is expected to provide insight into the world of work for Statistics Study Program students.
