INTERNATIONAL MATHEMATICS EDUCATION CLASS ATTENDING CLASS AT UPSI MALAYSIA

A total of 19 students from UNY's international mathematics education class took part in a sit-in program at the Sultan Idris Education University (UPSI), Malaysia for five days. The students were accompanied by Deputy Dean I FMIPA UNY, Dr. Suyanta, and Mathematics Education Study Program Coordinator, Dr. Ali Mahmudi.

Nawang Shita, one of the participants said, the sit-in was hosted in the UPSI library. Extraordinary facilities exist in the UPSI library. It is spacious with a height of 3 floors and has various types of different rooms intended for students who need comfort. There is a special room for those who are taking a master's degree, there is a special room for the children's library, and there is an isolation room for students who will take exams or tests. Indeed, UPSI uses a centralized library system, so there are no departmental libraries; there is only the university library.

The sit-in participants took part in lecture activities at UPSI. Advanced Calculus was the first course taken. The lecture discusses testing the convergence of a series. Dr. Nor'ain, the lecturer who taught this course, provided a donkey bridge for conducting convergence testing: HTC-PIRG. From the Advanced Calculus lecture, participants took part in the Complex Variables lecture session with lecturer Dr. Zamzana. In this lecture, all sit-in participants held discussions with UPSI students. Several students participating in the sit-in: Tiko (UNY) and Wildan (UNY) were invited to present the results of their discussions. The discussion in class went quite pleasantly. Sit-in participants also received training in using GSP (Geometer's SketchPad) software.

A lecture session with Dr. Faizal is a mathematics education course that compares the mathematics education curriculum in England and Malaysia. Lectures in full English. (shita/witono)
