PRACTITIONER LECTURE FOR TIME SERIES ANALYSIS AND EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN

On December 11st, 2021, the Statistics Study Program FMIPA UNY held a practitioner's lecture which presented Mrs. Meri Andani Rosmalawati, S.Sc., M.Sc and Mr. Hisworo Ramdani, S.TP, M.Sc. The practitioner's lecture this time is a practitioner's lecture for the Time Series Analysis and Experimental Design courses. The practitioner lecture which was attended by 125 participants from various batches of Statistics students brought the topic "Time series experimentation in business analytics" for the Time Series Analysis course, as well as the topic "Implementation of experimental designs in food technology research" for the Experimental Design course. At the beginning of her presentation, Mrs. Meri gave an overview of the types of data that are often found in the industrial world, as well as the skillset needed when wanting to become a data analyst/data scientist. Apart from that, Meri also conveyed the use of A/B testing in data driven decisions. According to Mr. Meri, A/B testing is the method most often used when dealing with data driven decision problems, because it is closely related to consumer behavior in responding to innovations provided.

In the second session, Mr. Hisworo Ramdani, S.TP., M.Si explained the designs that are often used in food technology research. In general, the designs used in food technology research are designs that are familiar to students, so the emphasis in this session is how to plan and build a design so that it can produce the right conclusions. In carrying out an experimental design, especially in the field of food technology, there will often be obstacles in doing so, this depends on how well the analyst controls the effect of variability in the field, so careful planning and sufficient literacy are needed. With this practical lecture, students are expected to get benefits related to the use of statistical methods in the world of work and know what skillsets need to be improved before entering the world of work.
