PRACTITIONER LECTURE FOR APPLIED BIOSTATISTICS COURSE

The Statistics Study Program UNY once again held a guest lecture which presented practitioners from the Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) of Central Java Province, Mr. Arief Fajar Juniarto, S.Si, M.A. The practitioner's lecture this time carries the topic "Applications of Biostatistics in the World of Work". The practitioner lecture was held on Wednesday, December 8th, 2021, which was attended by the Statistics Study Program students from various levels. In his presentation, Mr. Arief Fajar Juniarto, S.Si., M.Si, gave an overview of the main duties and functions of the BKKBN, as well as the role of statistics in the BKKBN and population control. According to Arief, statistics plays an important role in BKKBN. The application of statistics in the health sector (for example in the field of population and family health) is often known as biostatistics. Some examples of the application of biostatistics to the BKKBN include predicting women of childbearing age (WUS) who will likely drop out, knowing the prevalence of couples of childbearing age (PUS) with family planning in an area. In addition to its application in the world of work (in this case at the BKKBN), biostatistics also plays an important role in population control and family planning, one example of research that has been conducted is the application of multinomial logistic regression in the selection of female contraceptives. By holding this practitioner lecture, students are expected to know in general the importance of biostatistics in the world of work, and specifically know the importance of using biostatistics in population control and family planning planning. Another thing that is expected from this practitioner course is that students are able to use biostatistics for research related to population control and family planning.
